Intro / Wsolo

W-solo is a compact survival kit that purifies water during daytime by solar distillation through evaporation and condensation. Channels collect the clean water to sacks that contain the liquid. At night, lacking the light - W-solo turns into an emergency temporary shelter. More info here.

The development of this project initiates in the early stages of the design process, which include cultural and user research, user experience, market segmentation, form development, materials research and prototyping. These initial stages of the design process have most responsibility on the strategic role of design. At this stage, my role was to provide project direction, formulate vision and determine the impact for this product not only for the user, but the market of emergency response and aid delivery.
